Riverdale is the brainchild of Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the writer behind the resurgence of Archie Comics in recent years with great horror comics Afterlife with Archie and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Riverdale Season 2 is sure to happen, after The CW announced the renewal on Tuesday.

Riverdale stars K.J. Apa as the red-headed high school student Archie Andrews and looks at the dark and unsafe world bubbling beneath the surface of the titular town. The first season of the show debuted on January 26, 2017. The show grew 78% in adults 18-34 and 85% in women 18-34 in Live+7 day ratings over Live+Same Day. "You still have those classic, iconic characters, but you get a little deeper and a little darker into their lives". "We're all so excited to keep it rollin!"

"Riverdale" has been renewed for a second season scheduled to air next year. It is the second most-watched non-superhero show on the network, behind only Supernatural.

Riverdale now airs on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET - a primetime spot for the series, replacing DC's Legends of Tomorrow - and it's unclear if the CW has plans to move the show from its spot at this time. What do you think will happen with Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica, and their other pals?
