According to DNAinfo, administrators at the Jewish Children's Museum received an email at about 9:15 a.m. Thursday that claimed three pipe bombs planted inside the center would explode.

On Thursday, a Jewish children's museum in Brooklyn was evacuated for a few hours after police investigated an emailed bomb threat.

The gunman, a Lebanese immigrant, killed 16-year-old Ari Halberstam in 1994. The building is being evacuated and police are sweeping the building. Additionally, it would double the federal penalty against making fake bomb threats from five years to 10 years.

The NYPD has spoken to major Jewish organizations about their response to the threats, Miller said.

A rash of bomb threats also rocked Brooklyn schools last week, with calls made to Midwood High School, the John Jay Educational Campus in Park Slope, and Crown Heights' Clara Barton High School.

The latest threat was made on Tuesday. Last week, the New York Police Department said that anti-Semitic incidents were up 94 percent in New York City over this time previous year.

The building is located at the intersection of Kingston Avenue and Eastern Parkway, just across from 770 Eastern Parkway, Chabad-Lubavitch's world headquarters.

West Hartford - Jewish community centers in CT and Kentucky were the latest targets of separate bomb threats this week.

In a statement, Williams says, in part, "Birmingham's Jewish community, members of the JCC as well as the families that use their day care facilities are being targeted by threats of domestic terrorism. New York City stands united against hate", Mayor Bill de Blasio wrote on Twitter this morning.
