Tampa is home to four giraffes at Lowry Park Zoo

April the pregnant celebrity giraffe continued to do well on Saturday as she awaited the arrival of her fourth calf - and a live stream of her wait attracted upwards of 30 million viewers. Many were on "giraffe watch" over the last couple of days but so far nothing has happened yet. When April gives birth, her calf is expected to weigh roughly 150 pounds and stand six feet tall. Yes, flagging it as sexually explicit is pretty ridiculous - but is it right to exploit a captive animal as she experiences the miracle of birth?

The update posted by Animal Adventure Park on Monday said, "Keeper's report is all is well in the barn". Setting your phone, mobile devices and desktop PC to alert you when Animal Adventure Park is live may be the most effective way to get notified when April is in labor and ready to give birth.

"Due to an overwhelming number of requests to add a donation button to our pages etc., we will launch a campaign page soon to accept donations", said a post on its Facebook page February 23.

Miller, Buffalo's local animal guru, said live camera technology has been helping animal experts from a scientific perspective for years, but in terms of the general public, the live stream popularity is more recent.

Despite the controversy, Animal Adventure Park says that once birth is "imminent, when hooves are visible", it will again put up a live stream - whether it will be on Facebook or YouTube remains unclear. April will raise the calf naturally, and weaning could take between 6 and 10 months and perhaps even longer. On Sunday, the Facebook page said: "We will not announce active labour until calf hooves are visible.once we are final stages of the labour - the process is quick".

Those "things" on their heads are called ossicones.

When can we submit names for the baby? "That is natural behavior as males take no part in rearing their young, nor have a need for a female once she is pregnant".
