Jong Nam's identity confirmed with son's DNA sample

Malaysian police have said two women approached Kim from behind and thrust a lethal chemical weapon called VX nerve agent into his face.

North Korea has rejected the autopsy, and so far has not stated that the man killed was Kim Jong Nam.

SEOUL-Authorities have identified another North Korean man who helped oversee the hit squad that took out Kim Jong Nam in Malaysia last month, sources here said. He did not say how Malaysia obtained the DNA sample or from which of Kim Jong Nam's children it came from.

On negotiations with North Korea on the release of the nine Malaysians, Dr Ahmad Zahid said formal talks at the secretary-general level had begun since Monday. He accused the regime of "holding our citizens hostage" before deciding Malaysia would do the same with North Koreans.

He added that if the neutral venue had been chosen for the first match for the sporting reason, the second match between North Korea and Malaysia would also be played at the neutral venue.

The countries established diplomatic ties in 1973, with Malaysia becoming the first nation to have visa-free entry to North Korea.

A leading regional security expert told the AFP news agency last month that it would not have been hard to get VX into Malaysia in a diplomatic pouch, which would not be subject to regular customs checks.

Police said last week they had confirmed he was Kim Jong Nam, but refused to say how.

In recent weeks there has been a growing trend of insinuation that the North Korean government acted [NYT report] in the killing of Kim Jong-nam, with fears that he would be used to overthrow the current regime.

The confederation said Wednesday a new date of June 8 has been set and it wants North Korea to find a "neutral venue" for the match by April 14, in the event diplomatic relations have not returned to normal.

The workers were employed in mines and construction sites in the state. North Korea, which the United States and South Korea say orchestrated the murder, has denied the victim was Kim Jong Nam.
