Indeed, the footage adopts a very different tone to Dark Souls, its sequels, and associated From Software releases. Since there is no mention of the developer in the trailer, it is safe to assume that Bandai Namco is simply messing with its fans.

Bandai Namco, the publishers of the Dark Souls series, have teased a new project.

The trailer seems to combine Goth-punk with magic and swords. You can check out the artistic new teaser below. Whether we're controlling a cannibal or vampire is known only to the publisher now, but we don't have too long to wait to find out more. A short blog post from Bandai Namco states that they will be revealing the game later this month. The newly-formed company entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 2010 for releasing the most TV commercials for the same product. Based on the animation and the tagline "Prepare to Dine" people are assuming (and hoping) the game is tied to vampires and werewolves.

Dark Souls III received its final DLC, The Ringed City, last month, which according to reviewers ended a bit too quickly.

Bandai Namco instructs audiences in North America, Europe, and Japan to "Prepare to Dine" on April 20, 2017.
