Trade order, campaign rally on Trump's 100th day

He also is holding a rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to celebrate the milestone.

Between the Rolling Stones' songs echoing through the arena and scattered chants of "Lock her up" and "Build that wall", one might think President Donald Trump was gearing up for an election Saturday evening.

The black-tie affair in Washington was headlined by veteran investigative journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who gained fame in the Watergate scandal that prompted the resignation of former President Richard Nixon. While this provision has been used successfully only one time before, I've now helped pass more than a dozen Congressional Review Act resolutions that have landed on President Trump's desk and earned his signature.

Trump has signed dozens of executive orders, including several that roll back Obama-era regulations on industry or lift bans on oil and gas drilling, efforts Republican lawmakers and voters widely praised.

United States President Donald Trump may have skipped the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, but he was still the target of its jokes. Trump, who has derided journalists as "dishonest" and even enemies of the American people, is the first president since 1981 to stay away from the event.

"We can not ignore the rhetoric that has been employed by the president about who we are and what we do", Mason said.

Trump's 100th day events are set in politically important Pennsylvania, which he won with 48 percent.

The White House press corps gathered on Saturday for its annual black-tie dinner, a toned-down affair this year after Donald Trump snubbed the event, becoming the first incumbent US president to bow out in 36 years.

He then suggested that he might attend the dinner next year - but added that he might consider returning to Pennsylvania.

Trump in the meantime, true to form, did not welcome any of the criticism directed at him on the occasion of his 100 days in office, dismissing disparaging comments as "fake" news spread by mainstream media.

In Pennsylvania, Trump visited the AMES Companies in Pennsylvania's Cumberland County, a shovel manufacturer since 1774. One of the orders directed the Commerce Department and the US trade representative to conduct a review of existing USA global trade and investment agreements and another created a new White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing to be led by Trump adviser Peter Navarro.

"To protect our jobs and economic freedom I immediately withdrew the United States from the disgusting, disastrous, would have been another NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) but worse Trans-Pacific Partnership", Mr Trump said.

At the rally, Trump tore into the media, taking time to "rate" media members' performance covering his first 100 days.

Meanwhile, North Korea's missile launch Saturday signaled its continued defiance against the U.S., China and other nations, on which Trump tweeted: "Bad!"

"I'm going to be nice and give him an F+ just because, I don't know, I'm not really agreeing with everything he's doing so far", says Marissa Ortega. "We will see what happens", Efe news quoted Trump as saying in the rally.

"What we've delivered is 100 days of action", Trump told thousands of supporters at the Farm Show building in Harrisburg. Though the White House created a website touting its accomplishments of the first 100 days, Trump has tried to downplay the importance of the marker, perhaps out of recognition that many of his campaign promises have gone unfulfilled.

But while the series' writers may not have actually foreseen a Donald Trump presidency, they-like other Americans across the country-have bore witness to the first 100 days of it.

At the inaugural ball later in the day, President Trump was photographed with the First Lady, Melania, his daughter Ivanka and husband, Jared Kushner, Vice President Mike Pence and wife, Karen.
