The city estimates it spends between $127,000 to $146,000 a day to protect the first family when President Trump is not in town, and more than $308,000 a day when he visits.

On Friday, the president is likely to be at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminister, New Jersey, where the Secret Service agents who protect him will follow.

Members of Congress managed to agree on a spending bill-price tag is more than $1 trillion-that includes $1.5 billion in new border security but not an actual wall, plus $15 billion more for the Pentagon. "That's good news for our city and the hardworking police officers faced with this unprecedented security challenge".

That total includes $20 million in new spending for the period before Inauguration Day and the $7 million agreed upon from December's end-of-year spending agreement.

The outlay allocates $20 million for costs incurred between the election and the inauguration, and $41 million for expenses since January 20. "This budget agreement ensures the federal government meets this responsibility".

Schumer says reductions or removal of the deductions would hit NY especially hard due to local cost of living and higher local property tax burden. First Lady Melania Trump and the couple's 11-year-old son still live in Trump Tower. "We are getting to a place where these businesses need to plan and worry that they won't be able to survive".

Some of the money would also be set aside to reimburse law enforcement agencies in localities like New York City and Palm Beach County, Florida, which have seen costs skyrocket because of the extra protection require for the U.S. leader and his various relations.

"Although the federal government does not otherwise reimburse costs of state or local law enforcement for activities in support of the United States Secret Service protection mission", the legislation reads, "these funds are being provided in recognition of the extraordinary costs borne by a small number of jurisdictions in which a residence of the president is located".

The added security is a big concern for New Yorker's.

So far, the White House has not released an official schedule of appearances in the city, but those planning to protest Trump's visit have begun to organize demonstrations near the Intrepid between 2 and 3 p.m. Another protest outside of Trump Tower is slated for 6 p.m.
