Pete Carroll: Seahawks considering Colin Kaepernick, Robert Griffin III

The coach made the comments during an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle Monday morning. "But, quite frankly, yes, we are looking at all those guys". "We've been tracking everything that's going on, and we've got cap and roster issues and stuff like that that we're still trying to make sure that we manage properly". "We're looking to keep it competitive there, too".

Kaepernick adviser Harry Edwards told USA Today Sports last week that three National Football League teams has reached out to speak with Kaepernick since the start of free agency, but did not name the teams and didn't say whether or not the Seahawks were one of them. Griffin spent most of the 2016 season out with a shoulder injury but did return in time to help Cleveland to its only victory.

It's May 15, 2017, and we have our first word of official contact between Colin Kaepernick's representatives and a team.

Kaepernick's decision not to stand for the national anthem became the NFL's biggest storyline past year.

Pete Carroll said Colin Kaepernick is among the backup quarterback options Seattle is considering.

In 11 starts with San Francisco last season, Kaepernick also posted a 59.2 completion percentage, but he threw for 16 touchdowns against four interceptions, with 36 sacks taken and a 90.7 rating. "So it's hard to understand", said Sherman in March.

With several players from Seattle standing up for him, Colin Kaepernick might have found the ideal opportunity with the Seahawks. Teams should be happy to have a leader like that, a guy who's dedicated to the people around him and he's dedicated to making their life better.

Still, at this point it's fairly surprising - no matter your view on his protests last season - that a quarterback of Kaepernick's experience and talent is still available in the prime of his career. As of now, Boykin remains on the roster despite a tumultuous offseason that included an arrest for marijuana possession and public intoxication and a probation violation.
