Warriors' Kerr returns to practice for 1st time in 3 weeks

Brown will continue as acting coach but said Kerr has joined the coaching staff for early meetings the past few days. On Sunday, dressed in jeans and Warriors sweatshirt, Kerr watched the first half from the bowels of the Oracle Arena.

It's the first time Kerr has been at a home practice since he took a leave of absence in the middle of the first round to find a remedy for the pain he's been dealing with stemming from back surgery he had nearly two years ago.

ABC's cameras showed a clip of Coach Kerr at halftime talking to his team, who at the time were down 20 points to the visiting Spurs. "But just to hear him back in here, knowing what he's going through, means a lot for our team". "Obviously, coach Brown led most of it, but he was present". "I hope he's feeling better".

And at halftime, with video cameras rolling, it was Kerr and not assistant coach Mike Brown who addressed the team.

Desperate for an end to the head and neck pain that has long plagued him, Kerr underwent a spinal cord leak procedure May 5 at Duke University. He missed the shootaround the following morning and that night's game, then also Game 4 and the entire Utah series - and Kerr didn't travel to Salt Lake City while seeking answers on his health.

Kerr attended his first full practice Saturday since taking that leave of absence; however, the Warriors maintain there is still no timetable for his return. He's the guy that laid the foundation and got everybody headed in the right direction. The Warriors came from 22 down in the second quarter to win the finale, 110-98 on March 29 in San Antonio.
