CBSE class 10 board exams were not compulsory for the students this year and despite the fact, more than 16 lakh students appeared for the exams.

In Delhi Public School Ghaziabad (Meerut Road), around 314 students appeared for class 10 examinations this year.

Pass percentage of the CBSE Class 10 fell to 90.95% from 96.21% in 2016. The result declaration got delayed just because of Assembly election along with a controversy in marks moderation policy.

Overall, students in Jamshedpur were happy that for the sixth consecutive year there has been no cut-throat competition with marks and percentage unlike other boards like ICSE or the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC). Besides pre-result counselling, CBSE has started the post-results counselling as well for distress students. She said, "It has been self-study throughout the year". The total number of schools that conducted the CBSE's Senior Secondary School Certificate examination is 16,347 and most of the schools have 100 per cent pass percentage.


Principals, however, say that they are happy with the results and that the grading system has made students relaxed as compared to the initial days. The pass percentage registered a dip of over 5 per cent.

"The results will be announced on 3 June at forenoon", a senior CBSE official told PTI. The pass percentage of the past year was 98.87%.

Nonetheless, cutting the long story short, the point remains that there were a lot of reforms bought in that created a lot of headache for the CBSE officials as well as for the students.
