Both the players are now playing for India in the Champions Trophy. Kumble is one of the candidates in contention, after the BCCI invited applications for the job amid reports that Virat Kohli and some senior players were unhappy with Kumble's methods.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the Indian team for the upcoming India's tour of the West Indies, 2017.

Opener Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, have been given rest from the Caribbean tour to avoid fatigue.

Paceman Jasprit Bumrah is another member of the Champions Trophy squad, who has been rested for the short tour comprising five ODIs and a T20 global. However, there's still no clarity if Anil Kumble will be the coach.

The 19-year-old Pant impressed in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 for Delhi Daredevils. The release, however, said that the administrative staff would remain the same, thus confirming that Kapil Malhotra would be the manager.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Pant and spinner Kuldeep are in contention to make their one-day global debuts in the Caribbean. His aggressive left-handed batting and ability to handle the pressure of a high-stakes match impressed chief selector MSK Prasad, who described him as a "player for the future".

Team: Virat Kohli (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Yuvraj Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav and Dinesh Karthik.
