Westbrook was crowned NBA MVP during a ceremony hosted by Drake. We finally have our answer.

The pop superstar has mostly stayed off of social media for months but chose to return to congratulate NBA MVP Russell Westbrook, who won the NBA's Most Valuable Player award. The Oklahoma City point guard set a record with 42 triple-doubles in 2016-17, averaging 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists for the season.

"Oscar, guys like him, Magic Johnson, those guys, obviously I wasn't able to see those guys play, but just to look back at history and see the things that they did, it's something that I looked up to as a kid", Westbrook said.

Make no mistake about it: those are other-worldly numbers, and are more than worthy of recognition as the league's most valuable. Harden and D'Antoni seemed like a natural pairing, and his move to the point guard position was inspired. He helped the Oklahoma City Thunder post a 47-35 regular-season record as the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference.

On July 1, the Thunder can offer him a newly-possible "super-max" contract that will make him the highest paid player in the National Basketball Association. Westbrook's logo appears on the tongue of one of the shoes while Jordan Brand's signature Jumpman logo is featured on the side panels of each sneaker. I also don't think it's a good sign when Black Excellence and Ernie Johnson of TNT takes shots at you.

It is hard to understate just how significant Westbrook's statistical achievement is for the season. Green averaged 7.9 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.4 blocks per game for the Warriors during a championship season, on top of 10.2 points and 7.0 assists. He beat out reigning two-time MVP Steph Curry, as well as James Harden, LeBron James and Kawhi Leanard for the honor, earning 69 of 100 first-place votes.

"You hold me down".

Westbrook made sure to thank all of those people who are most important in his life during his acceptance speech, even offering love and gratitude to his parents and his younger brother, Ray.
