Friday will be a gorgeous summer day to finish up June.

It'll become warmer and more humid over the next few days with the chance for scattered showers and storms. It'll be another mild, muggy night with lows near 70.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, humid, chance for a few showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will fall into the upper 60s under increasing clouds. Later today we are expecting high temperatures in the lower to middle 80s. Sky conditions will be partly to mostly cloudy and a shower is possible. Some of Saturday afternoon's storms may be on the strong side, so keep that in mind if making outdoor plans. Highs in the low to mid 90s are forecast for most of North Carolina outside of the mountains and beaches on the 4th of July. It's still too early to pinpoint those details, but we'll be diligently tracking any change to the extended forecast in the coming days.

By Wednesday the weather system will exit the vicinity of northeast Kansas bringing a drier and a warming trend for the rest of the week with highs in the 90s by Thursday and Friday.

Tonight: Despite just moderate humidity, evening readings are likely to only slowly drop to lower 80s. Readings reach 90 in many spots before the storms develop.

Morning showers and storms will weaken and move southeast, ending by early afternoon.

By the weekend, readings will jump.

Friday will be partly to mostly cloudy and not almost as hot with highs in the low to mid 80s.
