Wayne Rooney's record-breaking career at Manchester United is poised to come an end this week amid reports the club's record goalscorer has agreed an emotional return to Everton. Please drop your comment!

"Hopefully he goes back and does the business and there is a lot of young players around that Everton squad that could benefit from Wayne Rooney's experience and knowhow".

Wayne Rooney has reportedly been withdrawn from Manchester United's pre-season tour of the United States.

Rooney underwent a vigorous training session with United's sports therapist Rod Thornley before he quickly left the scene.

The Sun says Rooney, 31, has been withdrawn from the Manchester United squad that will head to the U.S. on Sunday for their pre-season tour.

According to The Times, Everton's pursuit of Rooney could now present an opportunity for discussion, with the Toffees desperate to bring their former star player back to Goodison Park.

SunSport exclusively revealed last night that the England worldwide will become a Toffees player by the end of the week.

The Manchester United captain will be allowed to leave Old Trafford after seeing his role in the team reduced under Jose Mourinho last season.

This summer has been a very productive one for Everton in the transfer market.

If Romelu Lukaku departs Everton, the Toffees will reportedly make a £20 million move for the France worldwide, who has seemingly been replaced by Lyon hitman Alexandre Lacazette. They are determined to add a holding midfielder to their squad, with Tottenham's Eric Dier and Chelsea's Nemanja Matic still the preferred options.
