"When other leaders stepped out, their seats were also briefly filled by others". "Ivanka accompanies President Trump", Russian negotiator Svetlana Lukash tweeted.

The pic ignited criticism against Ivanka from some on the left, although Trump supporters argued it was a big ado about nothing, and Donald Trump himself later said that his daughter's biggest problem is being related to him because of the constant criticism directed at her.

In her recent interview, Ivanka said "I try to stay out of politics", so, her appearance in the events of G20 summit was a real surprise.

Ivanka Trump, unelected, unqualified, daughter-in-chief, is representing the USA at the G20 summit next to May, Xi, Merkel.

However, Russia's summit representative tweeted that when President Trump was out of the room for bilateral meetings, the first daughter sat in a replacement.

"The delegations themselves decide, should the president not be present for a meeting, who will then take over and sit in the chair", Merkel said.

Prior to the G-20 plenary sessions, Ivanka Trump participated in a forum to promote a fund to facilitate the empowerment of women in developing economies.

The 35-year-old senior aide to the President tapped in for her boisterous dad as he scooted off early for a sideline meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

I think it's more what you'd expect from a dictator really, using a family member to represent himself at an worldwide summit, than you'd expect from a democratically elected American president.

We'll be keeping a close eye on Donald's twitter feed to see how he feels about the whole thing.

The question is, how appropriate is it to put someone into a meeting with world leaders who has little to no political experience.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel also came to Ivanka Trump's defense.

Ivanka Trump, who works as an unpaid assistant to the president, has assumed an incredible amount of responsibility in her father's administration even though the White House hasn't been transparent about what her official duties include.

Trump then speculated as to whether life would be "easier for her" if she "weren't my daughter".
