3 militants killed in encounter in Tral

Two militants are reported to have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Satora area of Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter began late at night in an area a few kilometres from the Tral town. The exchange of fire ensued between the two sides, which continued throughout the day, a police source said, adding that helicopters were also pressed into service by Army to locate the terrorists. The terrorists were identified Ishfaq Ahmad Khan, resident of Tral, who had joined JeM in march 2017, and Mukhtiyar Ah Lone, a resident of Harpura in Tral, who joined the outfit in June 2017.

Tral is the hometown of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, who was killed by security forces on July 8 last year, triggering a wave of unrest in the Valley for almost a year. Body of one terrorist has been recovered, according to reports. Vaid said that some of the militants are still hiding inside a cave and hoped that more will be elminated. According to Intelligence report are many fidyeens are now active in the Valley, and are planning to strike the Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi today.
