Now, Disney has its cast for its upcoming live action version of "Aladdin", according to Entertainment Weekly.

Guy Ritchie is at the helm of the new adaptation, but reports suggested he was having difficulty finding stars to appear in the film.

It seemed finding a male lead who can act and sing, in his 20s, was hard especially as the studio needed someone of Middle-Eastern or Indian descent.

Actress Naomi Scott, recently seen in as the Pink Ranger in the Power Rangers reboot, will portray Princess Jasmine. And his name is Mena Massoud. Scott, on the other hand, is of Indian descent.

Perhaps most exciting, however, is that Will Smith will play the Genie. Mena Massoud, whose handful of screen credits include Jack Ryan, Open Heart, and The 99, will be playing the new Aladdin in Disney's upcoming live-action film. He initially took interest in taking on the lead role in Dumbo, but later backed out due to scheduling conflicts.

As many fans know, Robin Williams voiced Genie in the animated movie, and instantly made Genie a beloved character in the Disney world.

The film was reportedly struggling to find a suitable actor to play Aladdin.

Aladdin is set to begin shooting in August in London.

He is granted three wishes by a genie trapped in a lamp which he used to make himself a prince so he can marry her, while evil Jafar tries to ruin his plan.
