Apple HomePod firmware has revealed that the upcoming iPhone 8 will come with a bezel-less design along with a new facial recognition technology.

In the code Troughton-Smith analyzed, there was a mention of a "face detect operation".

The code was found by app developers Steve Troughton-Smith and Guilherme Rambo who posted about their discovery on Twitter.

Finally, the iPhone 8's software Home button is referred to as the "home indicator", while the HomePod code also shows that it will be hidden in certain contexts as to not take up screen real estate.

As we all know, there have been lots of leaks about the iPhone 8 and it has seemed to become nearly fashionable to "reveal" something about the new device. (NASDAQ:AAPL) rumor mill today is news of more information about the iPhone 8 being found in HomePods' firmware.

Apple is reported to announce three iPhones this year namely iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and a special edition iPhone 8.

There's now no set reveal date for the much-rumored iPhone 8, but Apple traditionally holds a conference to show off its new line of mobile products in September. That gave us a much better look at what the smartphone may look like, and for now, it appears that this device will be unlike any other iPhone that has launched in the past.

The leaks confirm the long-held belief that Apple would move towards a phone that is "all-screen", and it now looks like Touch ID will be replaced by Face ID. In the meantime, developers have been looking through the firmware code for Apple's upcoming smart speaker, which they say offers clues for the new smartphone. In one swoop, Apple managed to confirm the phone's design as well as the "Face ID" unlock feature. The firmware is essentially the same as the iPhone firmware, but it has a few alterations.

A new leak directly from Apple gives insight into the upcoming HomePod, reports MacRumors. The iPhone has a almost edge-to-edge display, slim bezels, a notch at top for the earpiece and camera, and no Home button!
