Ravens refute report saying Steve Bisciotti blocking signing of Colin Kaepernick

The Seahawks cornerback recently returned to the topic, and this time he was not afraid to name some quarterbacks less worthy than the ex-49er.

Lewis' former team, the Baltimore Ravens, have considered signing him after Joe Flacco's injury, but so far they've brought in unproven quarterbacks.

Sherman said the main reason Kaepernick remains unsigned is due to his National Anthem protest last season, rather than the level of his play. His flamboyant brand of humility and spotlight-seeking religious performance alone is enough to make him completely hatable, even if you take his having pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice charges in a murder case out of the equation. "One passed past year, God rest his soul, but I wanted to be a voice for the voiceless, joining Eric (Reid) and Colin in the protest and we accomplished our goal, bringing the conversation, bringing up the conversation and having people talk about it on ESPN, and various networks, and writers writing about it". "But Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallett or whoever is playing for the Jets right now - whoever is starting for the Jets is awful - have jobs", Sherman said in an interview with USA Today Sports.

In the video, Lewis also says he's got nothing against Kaepernick and "I applaud what you stood up for. That's where it's so troublesome to me".

After a torrid start to his career that included a trip to the NFC Championship game in his first full year as starter and a Super Bowl trip in his second, Kaepernick has seen a sharp drop-off and ultimately lost his starting job with the San Francisco 49ers.

For some, Kaepernick's flaws as a quarterback, including subpar accuracy and touch on his passes, and a possible deficiency in making multiple reads, are enough, combined with his polarizing persona, to justify the apparent leaguewide decision to deny him employment. It's not about football or color. He's thrown seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions.

Kaepernick is better than well over half of the league's backup quarterbacks and a handful of starters. Sherman mentioned Blake Bortles of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jared Goff of the Los Angeles Rams and "whoever is starting for the New York Jets " as quarterbacks that should not have jobs over Kaepernick.

However, with few options, the Ravens could be a solid fit.

Reports of the Baltimore Ravens being interested in quarterback-turned college analyst Aaron Murray and conflicting opinions on signing Colin Kaepernick surfaced on August 2. "When football's a safe game, you don't have to say, 'Football's a safe game.' It seems like the commissioner always has to say things to justify something". He may have had the best of intentions, but Lewis ended up more or less rambling about the topic for two-plus minutes before encouraging Kaepernick to keep his activism to himself and concentrate on football. Ray Lewis is giving Colin Kaepernick advice for how to act, and he's basically telling Kap to "stick to sports".
