Cutler arrives in Miami, misses Monday practice

Desperate times call for desperate measures, just ask the Miami Dolphins.

Faced with a season-ending knee injury for starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins were forced to bring in Cutler on a one-year deal for $10 million, reuniting him with Adam Gase.

If Cutler does not work out, put in Matt Moore, who will not wow anyone, but will not make the mistakes that have plagued Cutler's career.

Cutler now joins the Dolphins primarily because of his history with current Miami head coach and former Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase.

He parted with the Bears in March after eight seasons, and was then hired by Fox as an analyst to work in its No. 2 National Football League broadcast booth.

Several Dolphins players are quite familiar with Cutler. I was around the kids a lot and felt pretty content. We know he lost the locker room in Chicago and had bad body language and simply wasn't a very good leader in Chicago prior to Gase getting a hold of him. He also represents Brett Favre, who "retired" from the Green Bay Packers at 38 but came back to play for two more teams after that.

Now, Cutler didn't practice Monday and isn't going to step right in to first-team snaps on Tuesday.

Many people have been on the fence on whether Kirk Cousins is a franchise quarterback or not, but I am firmly in the camp that believes he can lead a team to a Super Bowl.

Five hundred action plays are a fairly small sample - a little less than a full season's worth - but then again, Moore doesn't have much of a sample size in his career.

They are not signing Colin Kaepernick because too many Cubans in Miami hate him for wearing a Fidel Castro T-shirt.

The connection between Gase and Cutler is the thing here. "I think our guys understand that". His offensive-line hasn't been anywhere near good enough, we know.
