Assassin's Creed bleeds into Final Fantasy XV in latest DLC

Assassin's Creed is headed to the Square Enix RPG later this August, Ubisoft announced today.

Then, on August 31, the free Assassin's Festival DLC hoists signs and banners across Lestallum, transforming the town for the event and adding in new events for players to explore. In addition to gameplay similar to Assassin's Creed, the festival will include mini-games as well as a chance to acquire exclusive items, including the "Medjay Assassin's Robes" for Noctis, Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto. I hope the event won't be completely gone by January and still be downloadable and playable in some form on PC or at least on console after that time passes, because I may not have time to get around to the game by then.

Discussions on this collaboration began almost three years ago at the Tokyo Game Show, and Easter eggs referencing this partnership were included in the FFXV trailer from November 2016, the Assassin's Creed Origins announcement trailer, and the Origins gamescom trailer.

"This collaboration is the result of being huge fans", says Ismail, game director at Ubisoft Montreal. It was there that the teams behind Assassin's Creed and Final Fantasy expressed respect and appreciation for each other's work. To celebrate this upcoming event, a video was released on the Final Fantasy XV YouTube channel. If you have not gotten the Dream Egg yet, you have until the carnival ends on September 30 to obtain it. Eurogamer has a guide for the carnival if you need help getting the Egg.

Apparently cosplaying as an Assassin's Creed character is such a phenomenon that it's infiltrated the world of Final Fantasy 15.

While Assassin's Creed: Origins, the next mainline Assassin's Creed game, still isn't going to be coming until October 27, this new DLC should provide at least a bit of a fix until gamers can pick up Assassin's Creed: Origins for yourself.
