Malinga will lead Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI here on Thursday after another stand-in skipper Chamara Kapugedera was ruled out following a back injury. The announcement comes few days after the hosts lost the 3rd ODI in Pallekele, and lost the 5-match series 3-0. "That's why I want to use my experience and give all the confidence to the young players", said Malinga of this turbulent situation.

Sri Lanka's high customs duties and protectionism however has led to undervaluation of goods and smuggling and corruption. Kapugedera had been nursing a stiff back before the third ODI, but had batted and fielded in that game.

Sri Lanka cricket team pace spearhead Lasith Malinga has laboured for wickets since his global comeback after a year-and-a-half, and former India cricket team pacer Zaheer Khan is among those he has turned to for inputs.

"I've played global and franchise cricket the last 14 years".

Although one can't dismiss the fact that a rag-tag Sri Lankan bowling attack, save mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya, has failed to keep up the pressure on Dhoni and Co. after making initial inroads in the second and third ODIs. This is time we have to stand up and give confidence to young players, that we're still good enough to play worldwide cricket. Now I feel really comfortable to bowl 10 overs and I bowl consistently. "People think we are not top of the table, but I feel we can change that", he offered.

Malinga has struggled to take wickets since returning to action after 19 months out with injury but feels that as his fitness improves so will his performances. We have a very good history and culture. Recently chief selector MSK Prasad also praised the player sharing an incident when Dhoni was injured yet played the match against Pakistan and came out victorious.

Dhoni is also close to breaking two individual records: He is just one stumping away from becoming the first wicketkeeper in ODI history to reach 100 stumpings.
