According to a report from Ben Jacobs of BeIN Sports this afternoon, Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is set to join Premier League champions Chelsea before the end of the day.

Riyad Mahrez has been given permission to leave the Algerian national team camp in order to finalise the deal to his new club.

The 26-year-old left his worldwide teammates earlier on Thursday "to formalise a transfer" with Barca one of a host of clubs linked to the Foxes star.

Mahrez, 26, has been consistently linked with a move away from Leicester this summer although he has featured prominently in the club's Premier League campaign so far.

Liverpool have so far rejected three bids for the Brazil global, but Barca are expected to return with a fourth offer, reported to be worth around €160 million including variables, before the end of the week.

RMC Sport say Barcelona are also still monitoring Mahrez's situation but as yet the Catalan giants have yet to formalise their interest as they continue to hold out for Philippe Coutinho.

The Algerian was crowned PFA Player of the Year after guiding Leicester to the league title in 2016 but struggled last season as the Foxes finished 12th.

Chelsea are also no longer favourites to sign Fernando Llorente after Tottenham agreed a £15m fee to sign the 32-year-old striker from Swansea City.
