It looks like the Blues boss has cast his eye to his homeland as the Daily Mail claim Chelsea are closing-in on a £21m deal to sign Torino right-back Zappacosta.

The wing back signed a four-year deal.

Blues manager Antonio Conte is familiar with the Italian defender, as he selected him for the Italy national team in 2016.

Chelsea have launched a £21 million bid to sign Davide Zappacosta from Torino.

Welcome, Zappacosta! May you have a Chelsea career as prolific as Frank Zappa's musical productions and as prolific as Diego Costa's goals.

In Zappacosta, Conte will have a player renowned for featuring in the right-wing-back position, a role Conte has utilised successfully in his 3-4-3 formation since arriving at Chelsea last summer.

The full-back joined Torino from Atalanta in 2015 and made 29 Serie A appearances last season. "I hope I can show my quality to the coach, my teammates and the supporters", Zappacosta told the club's official website.

That's after the Blues missed out on signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal; he moved to Liverpool on Thursday despite the Blues agreeing a fee with Arsenal, per BBC Sport.

Zappacosta is likely to be one of two Deadline Day signings Chelsea complete, with Danny Drinkwater also likely to be announced as a Chelsea player later this evening despite the deadline having now passed.
