Super Eagles offer support to ill Carl Ikeme

We expect the players, coaches and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to do the needful and ensure that no stone is left unturned in the bid to achieve total victory for Nigeria.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa from Nigerian club FC Ifeanyi Ubah has accepted the challenge of manning the goal against the Indomitable Lions and insists he is sufficiently prepared for the huge clash. "Should we fail to achieve that target, I do not think it will be possible to qualify for Russian Federation".

Udom also redeemed his pledge of $30,000 to the Super Eagles for their 3-1 win against Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier previous year. "So on Friday (today), we can hopefully get a win and move close to qualifying for the World Cup", observed Mikel.

But the Lions, who believe so much in their power play, that is, using their physique and aggressive style, would want to prove to the hosts that they are the African champions! "I'll like to see some of these players there", he said.

We have a great team.

He said: "When they were presented to the ministry on Tuesday, we sought the approval of Mr. President which he graciously approved to receive them on Wednesday, and indeed they were received in council and having emerged as champions they are qualified for the competition in Spain in 2019". His presence alone is a great boost to the team and it will motivate us as well. We have to win games and make sure we are focused all the time and also play well.

"We just want to win". In the first two rounds, the Nigerians beat Zambia 2: 1 away from home, and then Algeria 3: 1 at home.

The Lions will derive little comfort from glancing at the Group B table, on which they lag behind Nigeria with as many as four points, and also realize they have never beaten Nigeria in a World Cup qualifying match played in Nigeria. Cameroon are second with two points while Zambia and Algeria are bottom.
