Directr Colin Trevorrow (pictured above, top right) has parted ways with the Star Wars franchise, citing the usual creative differences (in his words, "our visions for the project differ").

Ejecting directors from its movie galaxy is starting to become a regular occurrence for Lucasfilm, which said on Tuesday that Colin Trevorrow would no longer direct the ninth chapter in the Star Wars saga.

The statement concluded: "We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon". That news came just weeks after Phil Lord and Chris Miller departed the Han Solo spin-off film, which was already deep into production, only to be replaced by Ron Howard. He's been working on the film since then, looking at a production start in January 2018.

In addition, Johnson revealed that the process of getting involved with directing a Star Wars movie was not something he expected to ever happen to him. However, it means the search is on for a new director for Star Wars: Episode IX. Played by Andy Serkis in the film, two new images of the character have made their way online, one from the Star Wars Trading Card app and the other from a series of Star Wars stamps set to debut in the United Kingdom in October (via BBC).

If there's one thing we can say about the Disney era of "Star Wars" movies, everything is amplified. It is obviously very hard to work with LucasFilm, the studio in charge of the Star Wars saga, which was bought by Disney in October 2012.

The image comes thanks to Making Star Wars, who managed to get a first look at the digital trading card of Supreme Leader Snoke.

Star Wars and film fans online responded to Trevorrow's departure with snarky jokes and celebration. That firing was a lot more disruptive than firing Trevorrow, because the Han Solo film is scheduled for a May 2018 release, and filming has been done half way.

In the wake of the Trevorrow news, many people were quick to speculate online about who might take up the mantle. But "Star Wars" has the unique advantage of having incredible resources that it can rebound.

The Last Jedi throws Finn and newcomer Rose Tico into the world of high-rollers at the Canto Bight Casino in a recently released image from the upcoming movie.
