BJP workers welcomed Shah, accompanied by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and state BJP chief Basant Panda, in a grand fashion on reaching the temple. BJP president Amit Shah will be visiting Meghalaya on September 28.

Meanwhile, BJP president Amit Shah arrived in Odisha on a three-day visit as part of his 110-day nationwide tour to strengthen the party in the states.

Odisha BJP in-charge Arun Singh claimed the party will win 120 of the 147 seats in Odisha while the BJD, Congress and others will share the remaining seats among themselves.

He said it was yet to be decided on who would lead the state BJP in the next assembly elections.

"NEDA has formed governments in five of the eight north-east states".

Party sources said the names of many leaders expected to be inducted into the government were struck off at the behest of Shah as he wanted them to play key roles in the organisation to implement his strategy for 2019. Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar he said that the saffron party will not form an alliance with any regional party and also will not ponder over the same for the state elections that are to be held in 2019.

"The decision is yet to be taken", he said adding the State will get a young leader. "As a result of this, people from different cultures and identities, every party came together on the platform of NEDA to take forward the growth engine of the country's development", he said.

He further criticised Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for celebrating his best administrator award given by news magazine. "As the first step of one-on-one fight, six Trinamool Congress MLAs, along with lakhs of their followers, merged with BJP last month", a BJP leader said.

"The Modi government has made arrangements for the upliftment of poor dalits and backward classes".
