Coutinho missed Liverpool's start to the season with a back problem but managed to appear for Brazil during the worldwide break.

Liverpool were smashed 5-0 at the weekend by a dominant Manchester City side, in what was a somewhat shock result for a previously in-form Reds side.

Defending In Numbers is a new Deezer Originals football podcast, created by Squawka.

Fellow keeper Mignolet said: "I've had it before when you have to jump into people's feet - and you have to be courageous".

Klopp cited Coutinho's lack of training and involvement with Brazil as the reasons why he saw fit to rest him against City but is primed to call on the playmaker for the first time this season against the Andalusians, who will be looking to capitalise on the Reds' Manchester malaise. The former Liverpool forward said. "I think he is doing a good job and has brought in some of the players he wanted". He came back long flight, 15 minutes here, 15 minutes there, three weeks without training.

Liverpool will face Spanish outfit Seville in their next Champions League match.

Those are the days, it has often felt, when champions show their true colours in the Premier League.

Coutinho, Liverpool's top-scorer last season and the heart of their midfield creativity, will no doubt be integral to Liverpool's attack amid Mane's suspension.

Though Mane's suspension does not affect his participation in the Champions League as his ban will only affect domestic matches - missing two Leicester clashes and a Burnley tie - Coutinho provides much-needed depth in midfield for Liverpool. Both Mignolet and Karius will feel they deserve playing time, but Liverpool also still have Danny Ward, and he needs minutes, too.

"We've scored a lot of goals already this season, and the players on the pitch have played the kind of passes Phil can play".
