There's no word yet on whether Apple TV 4K will be heading to South Africa.

In an ideal world there'd be no need for an Apple TV.

Indeed, Apple claims it is twice as fast, with four times the graphical processing power. It will be available to pre-order on September 15 and to buy on September 22.

The Apple TV 4K will also automatically detect the capabilities of your TV to optimise setup and output the highest possible resolution, including a video scaler to make regular HD content look better on 4K TVs.

Meanwhile, it's continually tweaking its TV app, which acts as a sort of universal guide for streaming services. At the launch, Cue showed off tighter integration with ESPN for live sports, and a new tab for all things Sports in the TV app. The Apple TV is part of the company's "Other Products" unit that accounts for just 6 percent of revenue. Users will also get a revamped Siri Remote in the package.

Here's all the latest info on the eagerly-awaited fifth-generation Apple TV, including details on specs, features, release date and price in the UK, US and more. As for pricing, Apple TV 4K with 32GB storage variant is priced at US$179 (approximately Rs. 11,450), while for the 64GB storage variant, it will cost you US$199 (approximately Rs. 12,750). For instance, my 2015 Sony supports HDR, but only via Android apps that run on the TV itself. The fourth generation Apple TV is still available for $149 with 32GB. It can even control your smart home devices if they're Apple HomeKit-compatible. The Apple Watch Series 3 was upgraded with cellular connectivity so you do not have to take your iPhone everywhere with you. Apple's spokesperson also said that 4K content will be available from third parties, including Amazon.

Apple themselves are also investing $1 billion into creating up to ten original shows, that rival the quality of Amazon and Netflix.

Apple has unveiled a new television in a bid to stay ahead in an increasingly crowded tech and entertainment market.
