Sitting down in Entertainment Weekly, PEOPLE, and InStyle's studio at the Toronto International Film Festival, Dave discussed why it's taken so long for them to collaborate.

I'm not a huge fan of The Room, either on its own merits or the cult that has built up around it. You'll still be laughing throughout, but you'll be charmed by the film's sweetness and affability. He's a big movie star.

The Disaster Artist is set for release on December 1st.

For Dave, The Disaster Artist finally "felt like the right time and the right project and the right dynamic" to accommodate both brothers' talents in the same film.

"He said, 'Yeah, James, I've seen your stuff". You'll have'ta look twice to tell Wiseau and Franco apart.

James Franco, who has been getting heavy Oscar buzz for his performance ever since it premiered at this year's SXSW, also directed the film. It's perhaps this push and pull that keeps bringing us back to The Room. Hope you're doing okay.

The behind-the-scenes creative team on The Disaster Artist was led by director of photography Brandon Trost, production designer Chris Spellman, costume designer Brenda Abbandandolo, and editor Stacey Schroeder.

Franco in this interview expressed his surprise that Sonny was the one movie in his entire filmography that Wiseau latched on to. The film also stars Seth Rogen, Sharon Stone, Hannibal Buress, Jacki Weaver, Melanie Griffith, Zac Efron, Alison Brie and Megan Mullally.
