Khattar further announced that the school management would be taken over by the state for the next three months.

Asked to comment on the development, the victim's father Barun Thakur said he was glad the case has been shown the sensitivity it deserved.

He said the Gurugram administration will take over the school for three months.

Police have arrested school bus conductor Kumar, 42, on suspicion of him being the child's killer. The Chief Minister, who met the family members of seven-year-old Class 2 student Pradyuman, assured that culprits will be brought to book and justice will be done.

"The murder of Pradyuman was unfortunate". The Gurgaon Police had detained the school's gardener, Harpal Singh.

Thakur said the responsibility of school managements should be fixed in such cases. His wife claims he has been forced to make the confession.

Massive protests by angry parents had broken out in Gurgaon after the murder came to light and the police has, over the past week, arrested several top office-bearers of the school which is owned by AF Pinto and his wife, Grace Pinto, who is a national executive member of the BJP's Mahila Morcha. Their demand is for the safety of children in general.

"If any school does not comply with the prescribed rules, the state government can take over the school concerned and strict action will be initiated", he said.

A report by a Special Investigation Tribunal had stated that the CCTV cameras of the school were not working properly and were not installed everywhere.

Khendelwal said no labourer would be allowed in the proximity of students and no construction work would be carried out during school hours, adding that no adult, except female sweepers, would have access to student toilets.

SIT teams on Wednesday searched the school for clues while a CBSE panel also inspected the premises to examine loopholes in security arrangements.
