Reyes said he usually gathers images from the Internet, but "what was so awesome about this episode, and this rarely happens, was that I was given a videotape of all the musical guest stars in the recording studio, recording dialogue and playing their instruments".

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released its fourth album "Hard Promises" in 1981. I finally saw one great American band I'd been a fan of for 30 years. YouTube user Kim Roberts caught footage of the band's encore, the hit songs "You Wreck Me" and "American Girl". Petty's career had hit a third, then fourth gear.

He also knew how to adapt his music to reflect the shifting sound of rock, whether it was emphasizing Benmont Tench's eerie synth lick in "You Got Lucky" or building "Mary Jane's Last Dance" around a heavy, low-slung beat (and a sly weed reference) that felt like an old-timer's nod to the rise of another important L.A. musician, Dr. Dre.

In the end, Tom Petty found himself satisfied with his body of work-"the soundtrack to his life", as he told Esquire in 2006, taking note of his long and winding journey to success.

At the time, Petty was struggling with a secret heroin addiction.

According to The Washington Post, he would stop using the drug by the 2000's and continue to make music with the Heartbreakers.

"I knew that because the episode took place at camp, that he would be dressed accordingly, so the things I struggled with the most were: Does he or doesn't he have a beard and ... glasses?"

In 2014, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released its 13th studio album, "Hypnotic Eye". Petty also acted in Kevin Costner's classic film The Postman.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers finished this summer's tour with his final three performances at the Hollywood Bowl. Why do any of us prefer the music that we love?

Jim London, 38, is a guitarist who plays at various dive bars throughout the Oklahoma City area. I had also discovered The Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan, but I still preferred the easy coziness of Tom Petty and his guitar. Sat watching realizing I grew up on these songs.

Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys: "I'm heartbroken to hear about Tom Petty".

Some celebrities noted that Petty's death came in the aftermath of the massacre in Las Vegas. And as his songs began to influence younger artists, he passed those values on in ways that continue to shape rock music. You brought us so much joy, @tompetty. Sheryl Crow was in a similar frame of mind.

Funeral services have not been made as of the time of this report. I think that's exactly why it's one of his most interesting songs. And he broke into "You Wreck Me". Petty stars as a morgue worker who becomes enchanted with Kim Basinger's fabulous corpse and takes it home for one last candlelit dinner, followed by a proper burial at sea.
