Odell Beckham Jr. leaves game vs. Chargers with apparent gruesome leg injury

With the Giants falling to 0-5 after the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, it would be surprising if Beckham played again in 2017.

The team did not have an update regarding Beckham's status at the time of publication. The touchdown pass was Rivers' third of the game and came three plays after Kyle Emanuel had a sack, forced fumble and recovery against Eli Manning at the Giants 11-yard line.

Beckham was in tears as he was carted off the field at MetLife Stadium.

Taylor Rooks‏ tweeted: "Brutal game for Giants".

In addition to Beckham, receivers Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard and Dwayne Harris were all hurt.

With most of their passing weapons unavailable, and rookie tight end Evan Engram lined up at receiver, the Giants tried to mount a game-winning dive. Orleans Darkwa scored on a 23-yard run and the Giants got a safety in scoring their first first-quarter points this season. That gave them a 17-16 lead. The Giants say Beckham has a broken ankle, which would mean he's going to miss the rest of the season.

Shepard had one catch for 9 yards against the Chargers.

Beckham had 97 yards on five catches and a touchdown in the loss.
