The new service will be called Mobile Express Returns. Chances are you're still there. Making returns of e-commerce orders quick, easy, and painless is important because about 30% of online purchases are returned, versus 9% of in-store buys, according to research cited by CNBC. It will generate a QR code that can be scanned at any Walmart store.

Refunds will be credited to customers' payment accounts as quickly as the next day.

Mobile Express Returns will initially be limited to items sold and shipped by Walmart.com, but will be extended to in-store purchases by early next year.

The program doesn't cover returns of products sold by third parties over Wal-Mart's online marketplace, Eckert said, as that's "a bit more of a complex program to tackle right out of the gate".

As mentioned earlier by CNBC, the newly announced Mobile Express Returns service will arrive next month and will roll out to all of the company's 4,700 stores in the US.

Amazon announced in August that it has made deal with retailer Kohl, which offers Amazon returns, shipping as well as packaging service for free at more than 80 of Kohl's department stores in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Senior vice president at Walmart U.S, Daniel Eckert said that the company realizes that returning an item and waiting for a refund isn't generally consistent for that reason the firm entirely changed the procedure for the clients.

Aside from its online sales projections, Walmart reiterated its net sales guidance of at least 3% over the same period, with adjusted earnings per share of between $4.30 and $4.40. Customers will start the returns process on their phones, using Wal-Mart's app before heading to the store.

The more consumers shop online, the more they return.

The new process will take about 35 seconds or less.

One retail analyst on Wall Street said that it has become very clear that the intentions of Walmart are to continue turning up the heat online, with over 40% annual growth an ambitious and impressive goal. The option also includes items that are damaged. Wall Street analysts, on average, are forecasting the company's EPS to be 0.97, compared to 0.98 reported in the same quarter a year ago. Mobile Express Money Services is now available chainwide and Mobile Express Pharmacy will be available nationwide later this year.
