"We are ready to sign Coutinho or any other player (during the mercato this winter). We want to have the team as competitive as possible ".

It's hardly surprising that Barcelona's interest in Coutinho hasn't wavered.

Barcelona are now in bullish mood ahead of the January transfer window as the board seeks to finally land Coutinho after seeing three bids rejected in the summer, including a reported £114 million.

El Mundo Deportivo now report Barca are "still in regular contact" with the 25-year-old, who has scored three goals for Jurgen Klopp's men this season.

Liverpool were reluctant to sell their star asset last summer, despite receiving a bid believed to be in the region of £120m, but are thought to be willing to sell next summer.

Grau also reiterated that Lionel Messi has already signed a new long-term deal at the Nou Camp with the club just waiting for the right time to make if official.

Liverpool will continue to refuse to enter into negotiations with Barcelona over the transfer of Philippe Coutinho, despite the La Liga side's insistence that they have not given up on the move.

But Coutinho has shown in recent weeks just why Liverpool are desperate to keep hold of him, scoring against Leicester City, Spartak Moscow and Newcastle United.

For much of the summer, talk was of Philippe Coutinho's potential Liverpool exit, yet when the transfer window slammed shut the Brazilian remained at Anfield. Let us know in the comments section below!
