We covered several of them in our roundup of the 10 best features of the Pixel 2, including the Now Playing feature, which allows the phone to constantly listen for music in the background and identify it, displaying the title and artist of the song on the screen. So in this case video calls are routed through a high quality video channel.

Google is making it easier for users to make video calls using its own video calling app - Duo.

Google will start rolling out the integrated video calling feature to its Nexus, Android One and Pixel devices, including the recently-launched Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, before expanding to other handsets. Google has further assured that it will be adding a new feature which allows users to switch from voice to video calls without disconnecting the app. That apart the whole ViLTE compatibility thing is unclear since both the caller and the receiver needs to be on a carrier that supports ViLTE.

Initially launched a year ago with the first Pixel, Google's Wallpapers app has quickly grown to be my favorite tool for customizing the look of my home and lock screen.

As for supported devices, you and whoever you are video calling only have a handful to choose from.

Additionally, there's a new Pixel 2 Cityscape wallpaper, but you'll need a Pixel or Pixel XL to access that one. ViLTE stands for video over LTE and is an extension of VoLTE. When you try to make a video call, Duo looks at what's available. For now though, its availability is still extremely limited.
