There has reportedly been no shortage of interest in NaVorro Bowman since the San Francisco 49ers chose to release him, and the veteran linebacker already has meetings lined up with at least two contending teams.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell annonces DeForest Buckner of OR as the #7 overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers during the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University on April 28, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois.

"NaVorro gave his heart and soul to this team for the last eight years, and for that we are all extremely grateful", Lynch.

"During that time, NaVorro was a key component of one of the best teams in the league and his passion for the game allowed him to quickly become a favourite of our faithful fans. We wish him and his family great success".

He was making a $6.75 million salary with the 49ers, and the Bears are already paying Freeman and Trevathan fairly large contracts. Bowman, 29, has played more snaps than any other linebacker through five weeks, largely because the 49ers defense has had trouble getting off the field on third downs.

Now that Bowman is a free agent, "lots of teams [are] trying to sign" him, according to one source, and it will take "a few days" for him to make a decision.
