"I was actually hoping for a just a bruise, but it wasn't that, so I thank God".

The reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year went down with what looked to be a serious knee injury in the third quarter of Tuesday's season opener against the Houston Rockets. He came up hobbling and grabbing at his knee.

The Warriors released the results of the MRI on Thursday and said Green traveled with the team for its current three-game road trip.

"It was a big relief".

Green was immediately upgraded from doubtful to probable for the game against the Pelicans on Friday night at Smoothie King Center. If Green can't play, rookie Jordan Bell, who has impressed in limited time so far, would likely start in his place. "I honestly thought it was my meniscus". One thing about it, neither one of those guys are one man's responsibility.

Warriors forward Andre Iguodala will make his season debut Friday after missing the opener due to a back strain.

Meanwhile, forward Omri Casspi, was downgraded from questionable to out. But having Green and Iguodala back will help the Warriors defense against the tremendous Pelicans frontcourt of Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins, who combined for 61 of the Pelicans' 91 points in their loss to the Grizzlies on Wednesday.
