The Los Angeles Police Department said the investigation began "after evidence was discovered inside a business" in Sun Valley, California.

An FBI spokeswoman confirmed to CBS News that federal officials assisted the Los Angeles Police Department Wednesday in arresting Bruce Paddock.

A brother of Las Vegas mass shooter Stephen Paddock has been detained in North Hollywood on suspicion of crimes related to child pornography, according to authorities.

Bruce Paddock has previous convictions for vandalism, criminal threats and theft, NBC reported, citing court records.

The hard drive may have contained potential key evidence to Paddock's motive, the report said.

Bruce Paddock is not considered a suspect in the Las Vegas massacre, according to police.

Stephen Paddock carried out the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history, killing 58 concertgoers and injuring hundreds of others, when he opened fire from a Las Vegas hotel room on October 1.

Authorities were unable to locate Paddock during the initial investigation.
