A day after McGowan appeared in Detroit at the Women's Convention and did not say the movie mogul's name in the opening speech, she was quoted Saturday in The New York Times saying that as recently as September, she was offered $1 million in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement from someone in Weinstein's inner circle. She received the offer before the first story ran regarding Weinstein's past involving sexual harassment.

Weinstein's lawyer previously denied the more severe allegations from multiple women in a statement reading: "Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein".

McGowan then said that these predators who harass and assault their victims are 'monsters, ' and their time is running out.

McGowan continued that she told her lawyer to rescind the offer within one day of the Times' Oct. 5 expose on Weinstein, which detailed the alleged pattern of abuse Weinstein engaged in over decades, and seven other settlements he had made with other women.

After the incident, McGowan said she went directly to a press event where she fought back tears.

'I figured I could probably have gotten him up to three.

In the following months, however, McGowan says she was given the impression that filing a criminal charge was hopeless, recalling being told, "You're an actress, you've done a sex scene, you're done". "I remember that Rose was extremely upset and did not want to settle", Ms.

Representatives for McGowan and Weinstein did not immediately return requests for comment. McGowan began dating shock rocker Marilyn Manson, and was observed by one friend to be far more "protective" of those close to her than she had been before. McGowan's lawyer confirmed the money offer to the Times. And she became very protective of us.

"I want to thank you for being here, for giving me wings during this very hard time". When she arrived, she says the maƮtre d' directed her upstairs to his suite, past two male assistants who "wouldn't look me in the eye", and into his room.
