Well, this is an opportunity for both TCU and Oklahoma to get a jump in the playoff polls if either team wins. What about the next two weeks which will have Ohio State face Michigan, Alabama vs.

Another wild weekend in college football will ultimately turn the playoff rankings inside out come Tuesday night. They absolutely dominated 8-1 Notre Dame, shutting down the Irish's previously powerful rushing attack and forcing four more turnovers.

Miami and Clemson are now destined to meet in the ACC Championship game. Wisconsin has more to lose than to gain compared to the Hawkeyes, who don't have that much to play for. A "solid team" by Mark Richt's own assessment has battled adversity and now close wins against lesser competition has evolved into blowout wins against the best teams in the country. Considering what's on tap this Saturday, you might want to clear your schedule and clear some spots on the couch for your buddies. If they win that, they'll face the Bulldogs again in the SEC title game.

But what matters is that we're talking about a two-loss conference champion in the playoff mix.

Auburn have been a bit unlucky this year, losing on the road to Clemson early in the season before essentially seeing all hopes of making an inaugural trip to the College Football playoff vanish with a narrow home loss to LSU in Week 8. That would be one of the more impressive late-season runs in recent memory.

Auburn, with wins in its final two regular-season games and in the SEC Championship game over Georgia, will get in. Top 10 matchups and 49 games overall. The Sooners feel like the last team standing in this conference. A win over the Horned Frogs could move the Sooners up to the top four. In his two games there since, Patterson has lost two heartbreakers by a combined four points, so he will be looking to exact a score against the Sooners. One week after the Buckeyes' 31-point loss at Iowa, we're there. Because look what's going to happen.

This is the weekend Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield can put the Heisman Trophy in a headlock or open the door for another contender. The victor of this showdown will be sitting pretty in the eyes of the College Football Playoff Committee heading into the homestretch of the regular season, while the loser will be effectively eliminated from contention.
