Denton police say all occupants of the apartment were successfully evacuated, and only minor injuries were reported.

Glenn says about 30 people were in the apartment at the time of the collapse and that he believes the structure just couldn't handle that many people dancing and jumping at one time.

The floor collapsed under University of North Texas students partying during homecoming.

"I have nowhere to go".

Carley Carroll, a second-year student who lives directly below the unit where the party was being held, says she wasn't home when the accident happened, but says she lost everything.

Several people suffered minor injuries when the third floor of a Denton apartment building collapsed on Saturday. "That's life threatening. If we were in our living room, we wouldn't have made it out because by what we've seen, it's just completely gone".

"Immediately the water pipes were busted and water was coming from all over the place", Keys told the newspaper.

Carroll and her roommates are not the only ones affected.

At least 48 residents are displaced until the apartment management can get a structural engineer and a construction crew to certify the building is safe, Lahart said.

"A vast choice of amenities and its friendly staff create a worry-free environment that allows residents to focus on the most important thing - being a successful college student", according to the complex website.

Police estimate there were 100 people at the party.

"The university is here to help any of our students who may have been impacted", university officials said. Police say those type of calls are low priority in nature and people have usually left the party by the time officers arrive.
