"The only invitation we are thinking about is to the 2018 NCAA Tournament".

Another Donald Trump White House invitation has been rejected, as the SC women's basketball team declined a very late, last-minute invitation from the president to visit.

"We did hear from the White House about attending tomorrow's event, but we will not be able to attend", Staley told a local ABC station. "I don't know what else has to happen".

On Thursday, head coach Dawn Staley said her team was extended an invitation by the White House but has turned it down.

Trips to the White House by sports teams this year are no longer a given.

The Gamecocks won their NCAA title in April. The NBA champion Golden State Warriors, meanwhile, were never invited because star point guard Steph Curry said his team doesn't support Trump and his agenda.

A team spokesman said the Tar Heels were willing to go, but the university and White House tried "eight or nine" dates and none worked.

Trump began a series of stops on the South Lawn, then went to the State Floor and Rose Garden on the White House grounds. The Gamecocks defeated Clemson on Thursday night and have a practice scheduled for Friday in preparation for facing Wofford on Sunday.
