Variety reports that Captain Marvel has found its male lead to star opposite Brie Larson with Jude Law taking on the role.

It'll release shortly after Captain Marvel in 2019, though there have been rumblings that a select number of costumed crusaders will cross over into the Larson-fronted spinoff. She later adopted the Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel codenames in his honor.

Law's mentor character will be called Doctor Walter Lawson, according to Variety, who helps her understand her new superpowers. Already on board to play the title character is none other than Oscar-winner Brie Larson. She finds herself with superhuman abilities afterward including super strength, energy projection, and flight.

Law also recently joined another major franchise, the Harry Potter movies, taking on the role of young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Samuel L. Jackson is supposed to make an appearance as Nick Fury in Captain Marvel as well.

Mar-Vell is an alien from a race known as the Kree, a people previously alluded to on-screen in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and Agents of SHIELD.

So, what do you think of the Jude Law Captain Marvel casting?

Marvel hasn't let out that much information about the film just yet, but during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that the superhero movie would be set in the 90s before the Avengers started assembling.
