A four-year-old boy was booked by the Delhi Police on Thursday for "sexually assaulting" his classmate in the washroom and classroom of a well-known private school in the city. A case has been registered under sections of rape and the POCSO Act, police said, adding that they have started their investigation. The girl, who was nearby, listening to her mother talk to this correspondent, said meekly, "I want to become a witch so that I can kick the boy like a ball".

The parents of the victim have accused the school management of negligence and have also alleged that the principal, a teacher and coordinator did not take any steps even after learning of the incident. But, the girl started crying profusely at night and told her mother that her classmate had assaulted her using a pencil and his finger after unbuttoning her trousers in an empty classroom. She also approached the school authorities, but instead of cooperating they asked her to give a written complaint about the incident on Monday.

After the doctors at Rockland Hospital examined the victim and confirmed it to be a case of sexual assault, the parents lodged a complaint at the Dwarka Police Station.

The police is now in dilemma of how to proceed with the case since the suspect is a 4-year-old minor. According to first information report (FIR) the mother stated, the girl complained of pain in her lower abdomen but the mother ignored it thinking it was "one of her tantrums".

"The Indian Penal Code (IPC) provides children below seven years of age certain protections against prosecutions". As seen in the CCTV footage, her daughter's delayed exit from the classroom corroborated the sexual assault allegation.

"We must understand that it is absolutely not possible for a four-year-old to understand sexual behaviour". Is there a possibility of a sexual need being fulfilled in his case? "I paid a bomb as school fee, handed then my child hoping that she is safe in school, what is considered a second home, in the custody of her second mother, teacher, only to be let down", NDTV quoted the mother of the victim.
