Melania Trump reveals lavish White House Christmas decorations

"I don't think she thought it was going to happen".

"As has been stated on the record many times before, she is honoured by her role".

In a statement, the office of Melania Trump blasted the story by journalist Sarah Ellison as "shameful" and "riddled with unnamed sources and false assertions".

Mrs Trump has faced repeated suggestions that she was a reluctant first lady since Donald Trump was elected just over a year ago.

Roger Stone, a former Trump campaign advisor, said: "He always wanted to run".

'She's attractive, like an angel!' one young boy remarked, as the first lady - who's cream-colored belted dress with bell sleeves could have been worn by a tree topper - walked into the East Room to help a group of kids make garland.

Like her husband, Melania Trump, is outraged at the media. "It's Donald's thing". And I think she understood he was going to be unhappy if he didn't run", he said. She only has nine staff members who assist her, far less than previous first ladies, Michelle Obama and Barbara Bush.

Well, Mrs. Trump, we didn't want him as President of the United States, either.

First lady Melania Trump may have taken some time to move into the White House, but now she's making herself right at home.

There are, however, some new flourishes - including wreaths hanging from the exterior of every window.

"The decorations are up!" she tweeted. "@whitehouse is ready to celebrate", she told her 9.11 million Twitter followers. "On behalf of my husband and Barron, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and joyous holiday season".

The VF article comes a month after Melania's First Lady title was being debated by Donald Trump's first wife, Ivana, who said during the press tour of her new memoir, Raising Trump, that she's "basically first Trump wife" and the "first lady".
