That new card type is the Spellstone. The free single-player content in "Kobolds and Catacombs" are Dungeon Runs.

Tompson explained that releasing Adventures were holding back what some of the game had to offer in terms of new cards being added to the meta, and for those that never completed the Adventures fully, this prevented them from getting those cards.

Dungeon Runs are a new mode with roguelike elements. Whether players prefer to wield magic or arms in battle, strike from the shadows or head on-or have never given any of that much thought-they'll be able to jump right in, create a deck, and get in on the card-slinging action. The card's effect can be upgraded by taking damage from your cards until you reach a maximum damage of seven for a four-mana cost. There will also be new card mechanics including Spellstones, Unidentified Items and the first Legendary weapons.

Kobolds & Catacombs is set to drop on 8th December according to news from Blizzard. Players start with a basic, premade deck and will then encounter a series of bosses.

Or if you want to reserve a satchel of card packs in advance, you can pay £44.99 to grab 50 at a discount, along with an exclusive card back. We're also adding three sequential one-time Dungeon Run quests*, and each one awards one Kobolds & Catacombs card pack, for a total of three more card packs.
