She, ANI reported, was trying to gain entry to a meeting being held by Congress president Rahul Gandhi to review the grand old party's recent Himachal Pradesh election loss. "She abused me and pushed me, she should have shown restrain, I am her mother's age, but yes I agree I should not have lost my temper. I am sorry for the incident".

Following this, she got agitated and to the shock of everyone slapped the lady constable. Kumari then slapped the woman constable, who hit her back.

Kumari in her complaint accused the woman police of repeatedly slapping, manhandling, threatening to kill and stopping her from entering the Congress office during party President Rahul Gandhi's visit to Shimla on Friday. After considerable backlash, she also took to Twitter and clarified the situation calling it an act of self-defence. No one has a right to raise hand against someone, at least not the Congress culture. "I will not tolerate indiscipline in the party", said Gandhi at a Congress party meeting later.

The matter was highlighted after the woman constable slapped Kumari back in a fit of rage. He met party legislators, party candidates and district presidents, to discuss what went wrong in the elections.

He will address a meet of party workers later in the day.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 were held in single phase on November 9. The BJP has bagged 44 seats in the 68-seat Assembly to form the government in the state.
