Vice President Mike Pence and his wife have spent the past week at their residence in Aspen, Colorado.

U.S. Vice-President Mike Pence and family were greeted by a rainbow-coloured "Make America Gay Again" banner when they arrived at their Aspen, Colo. holiday home.

The publication reported that the banner was put up by the daughters of the couple staying in the home neighboring Pence's vacation retreat and their girlfriends.

Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo said he is in favor of free speech and that Aspen has a long history of irreverence when it came to powerful people visiting the area.

In December, residents in the affluent Washington neighborhood of Chevy Chase hoisted rainbow flags outside their homes following news that Pence, then newly elected, would live there temporarily before moving to the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory.

No word on how the Vice President feels about the sign. The bill caused national outrage and IN lawmakers were eventually pressured into including some anti-discrimination protections amid threats of companies boycotting the state. The bill, called the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, or RFRA, led to a national protest. But the provisions only applied to some of the most liberal cities in the state, which already had protections in place, according to the Post.

"[The neighbor] was real sheepish and thought [they] might be confronted by the Secret Service or deputies who'd tell [them they] couldn't do it", DiSalvo told The Aspen Times.

Vice President Mike Pence's political action committee has taken in $2 million this year, and he is using that to help Republican candidates in the 2018 midterm elections, according to a new report. Citing a Harvard researcher, Pence said in his speech, "societal collapse was always brought about following an advent of the deterioration of marriage and family". The state went to Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.
