NOTES: Lamar Jackson is the only player in FBS history to rush for at least 1,500 yards and pass for at least 3,500 yards in a season. Be sure to tune in to ESPN at 12:00 p.m. ET on December 30 to see Louisville take on Mississippi State in the 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville.

Simmons boasts 11 tackles for a loss with 4.5 sacks. On the flip side, Sweat and Simmons would love nothing more than to make a Cardinal other than Jackson beat the Bulldogs' defense.

Mississippi State: New coach Joe Moorhead will have a chance to win games early and build on the strong foundation Dan Mullen and his assistants built in Starkville.

Louisville: Jackson needed more help - from his running backs, his receivers and his defense.

Jackson won the Heisman as a sophomore in 2016.

This year's TaxSlayer Bowl promises to be one of the bowl season's best.
